While these are challenging times for all, the burden of this current social upheaval is falling especially hard on those of limited means. Our ambitious Latinas are from low income families, many of whom work in the hospitality and construction sectors and have lost their jobs and income. We are deeply saddened by the profound impact this pandemic has had on their families, their community and their future.
Our students count on us for helping them advance their futures through education. We want to continue to do so but can only do that if they are connected, fed and sheltered.
With the help of a generous ¡Adelante Latina! Board Member who provided seed funding with a $10,000 Challenge Grant, we are launching the ¡Adelante Latina! COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund which will be used, at Founder and Executive Director Leonor Blum’s discretion, to support our students through these next few months with expenses that are beyond their family’s capacity.
